I'm applying to University of Dayton this fall.
I have good stats, I have a good chance of getting into the school.
The thing is, UD will only be an an option for me if I bring the COA down with scholarship money. They have merit scholarships, one of which I have the stats the qualify for.
It's worth 45,000 - 65,000 dollars over the course of 4 years.
So, my question is, will I get it? It doesn't say that this scholarship is guaranteed, I just know I'm a candidate for it.
Who knows anything about Dayton? Anyone get a scholarship there?
Are the scholarships guaranteed?
Any input is appreciated.

What are your stats?

I believe that the UDayton scholarships are guaranteed, but since a range is given it’s hard to know which amount you’d definitely get.

The one you’re talking about says you need a B+ average (not sure what that is X.X) and you need a 29+ ACT or 1280+ M+CR SAT.

It would seem that if your ACT is a 30, you’d get the lower amount of the range. If your ACT is much higher, you’d get the larger amount.

UD costs about $46k per year. If you get the merit scholarship of about $12k per year, then the cost would be about $34k per year. Is that affordable?

How much will your parents pay?

What are your stats?

My EFC is high… my parents haven’t told me, but they vaguely said something about low 30’s. I’m guessing it’s around 33,000.
They don’t want me to go to an expensive school, and they believe any school other than he two $26,000 publics aren’t even worth the money.

I have a 31 ACT and 3.75 GPA.

Don’t know if UDayton considers the 3.75 as a higher GPA, if so, more merit money.

You have conflicting posts…on one hand you say that your parents don’t think that a school that costs more than $26k are worth the money…in another post you say that they’ll pay their EFC. Which is right?

The scholarship would bring the cost of UD down to one comparable with IL publics. Which is why I want to know how to get one.
Also, the 26000 was room&board=tuition, not including books and other stuff.
The EFC is what they’re willing the pay… so 34000 would be a considerable option for me.
IF I got a dayton scholarship, that is.
