Allrightie. I was accepted into Cal Poly SLO, and I was very happy about it. However, it was a conditional acceptance, and it said I need to A.) Complete all the courses I had listed in my application with B.) no grade lower than a C- otherwise my acceptance will be rescinded.
Well now I’m kind of upset because although I have passed all my courses with A’s and B’s, I go a D for first semester in pre-calculus and decided to drop the class. I’m now taking buisness and personal finance in it’s place…
Now I’m really upset because I feel like if I try to accept my admissions offer, it will just be rescinded. It’s too late to go back to Pre-Calculus. Should I just go to another school I was accepted into, or take the risk and hope I don’t get rescinded?
I’m sorry, you aren’t really clear. Do you have a D on the transcript or not? You are dropping an important class and replaced it with a non core class so you will not have the number of math you need for acceptance. And that breaks the conditional offer and if you also have a D that is another problem with the conditions. I’m not sure about Cal Poly, but at the UCs you have to get ahead of it and contact them. You might as well tell them what the situation is and find out if the offer will stand or not because you have to make your plans. I’m afraid you likely will be rescinded.
Call admissions now than later to see what you can do. Since you have already been accepted, they will probably try to work with you to take care of the situation. It is better to find out now, than after the May 1 deadlines for your other acceptances.
CALL THEM FIRST!!! They may look over it if you tell them why you dropped, even though you should have asked first before dropping!
