I am attending UC Santa Cruz, and said in my UC application that I will be taking the AP English Literature test. I signed up for it, but now people are telling me that I will get no credit for it so it is pointless to take it. I won’t get credit for it because I passed the AP Language test with a 4 (worth 8 credits) and the Lit test is worth 8 credits, but you’re only allowed to use 8 credits maximum for english. Does anyone know of people who have been rescinded because of not taking an Ap test they said they would? The admin at Santa Cruz said it would be unlikely but they weren’t 100% sure either times I called.
Thanks!
No.
For some schools, AP English literature and language give different subject credit.
However, this does not appear to be the case generally at UCSC, according to http://admissions.ucsc.edu/publications/ap-ib-chart.pdf .
If you are already signed up for it, why not just take it anyway?
@ucbalumnus I can get a partial refund and also I really don’t want to take it since my class has not been taught to the AP curriculum and I’m very unprepared
Nope, you won’t be rescinded.
