Call FSU admissions, but if you’re getting two D’s, I would expect to get rescinded. You have over a month; pull them up.

If it was one D, I’d say no. But considering that people were initially rejected for what appeared to be one D on their high school transcripts, I just don’t see them not rescinding you if you get two of them.

Like Matt said though, you have a while to get your grades up, and then you won’t have to worry about it.

Talk to your current teacher. Explain to him or her that you are trying hard (which if you aren’t you better start) to earn a satisfactory grade in the course. Then, work with the teacher and make SURE you tell them that your future at FSU, and life in general, is weighing on you making atleast a C in these classes. I had the same situation, yet it was Spanish. Sent the teacher a nonsense half truthful sob story, and she gave me a C.

:)

FSU looks at your final grade, not semester grade. When I went to preview this past week, that was the information an admissions officer told a group of us. They may have access to your semester grade, but the final grade is what counts.

Well they are both semester classes that I am doing bad in. Theyre both second semester classes: Its two quarters; my first quarter is a C, so I guess I’ll have to aim minimum for a D in both classes for the second quarter (it’ll round off to a C).

P.S. I am trying hard in my other 6 classes. I’m passing them with great grades. I just despise these two classes. Thanks for the advice everyone.

There you go. You can get as many C’s as you want, but the second you get a D, your transcript gets flagged. If you get two D’s, I think it’ll be very hard for you to explain it.

You got a C the first quarter and all you have to do is hold on for one more quarter and get a D or higher (for the quarter) to get into college. You can do it. Good luck.

Jossie - you were also admitted through CARE, right? If so, the typical scenario where you would get rescinded for two D’s may not apply. I don’t know that for a fact, I just know that you have a little bit more leeway than a student admitted through the regular channels. Call CARE and talk to them as well as admissions.

Jossie - I am in the same exact boat as you. I am certain I’ll end the year with a D in my math class, and I could end up with a D in my Chemistry class. It just depends on how well I can manage.

I emailed admissions today and explained to them my senior year performance, because I’m stressing so much about my admissions being rescinded. I’ve heard that one D isn’t grounds for an admissions being revoked, but I’ve also heard that FSU is notorious for doing this to kids the summer before college, which means all the deadlines to other universities have passed.

I’ll let you know what I get emailed back, but we have two months to bring up our grades. We can do it!

Quite frankly, the posts on here about ‘two Ds pretty much equal automatic revoked admissions’ scare the living day lights out of me, and I wont be able to breathe easy until I get my grades to where they should be.

Awesome Colin, let me know what they tell you. Are you on Facebook?

According to FSU, any “downward trend” in grades could be a reason for FSU to rescind your acceptance. Generally this means that any grade below a C is problematic; however, I guess that if FSU really wanted, they could claim that someone who goes from the honor roll in the first semester to 1 B and 5 Cs in the second semester had a “downward trend” in grades, however I don’t think that’s ever happened.

Generally, the rule has been that 1 D was problematic, but being proactive helped significantly. If 1 D is problematic, it would stand to reason that two is very problematic.

Honestly though, the statement that getting two Ds would likely result in your acceptance being rescinded probably should scare you.

My advice is this:

You say that you’re doing great in your other classes. Well, if I were you, I would spend less time on those classes, and more on the ones you are worried about. Just because you despise them does not mean you should just fall and get a D in them. Work hard in them and get a C, since they will more than likely determine if you can still go to FSU. You may find that you will not like some of the courses you have to take at FSU, I know I have. The point is that you work hard in them no matter what, and prove that you are a student who can succeed in any course!
