I got into Cooper Union ED for Mechanical Engineering.
Then I got my report card today and here are my grades:

A- in AP Calc AB
A- in AP Physics B
A- in Econ
A- in AP Gov
A+ in Chorus
and a D in English.

Help, what should I do

No, you will not get rescinded.

Don’t you need 4 years of English?
If you are not able to satisfy that requirement then you will be rescinded.

Technically a D is still passing in some schools. So maybe not.

Don’t worry! You are planning on engineering. If you messed up math I’d be worried. That said, bring up your grade now! Worst case you could take in summer.

Call Cooper Union to find out what they say!

Oh, no, I live in New York, so a D is passing. I was just worried because it’s still a ridiculously low grade.

I def would not call them and bring attention to it, look at website and see if it mentions anything about senior grades, a D is passing so I would think it isnt a problem

another thing you can do is ask the teacher to change it because it puts your college standing at risk, sometimes this works, or they can come up with a plan for you to redo or extra credit or get the principal involved, it makes their school look good when you have great college admissions

Do you think Cooper won’t notice the grade? “Bringing attention to it” has nothing to do with the recommendation. It’s about managing any potential bad fallout. Being proactive in this case would be seen as a plus. And as a parent I can’t help but shake my head at students that ask for grade changes for earned grades because it might hurt their college admissions.
