Will I get rescinded?

I have just found out today that I'm admitted to UCD for fall 2013 with the condition of admission being:

"Complete all transferable in progress or planned courses with a GPA of 2.80 or higher, with no grade less than "C," by the end of your spring term."

I'm wondering If the 2.80 GPA is my total GPA or only for spring? And would I get rescinded If I get a 2.64 for spring? with a C in a 5 unit transferable course?

I have the same problem but its for UCSC. I dropped a class that I did not need and it does not affect my TAG or IGETC. Same issue here

It’s your overall GPA for Davis. “To achieve the minimum overall UC-transferable grade point average required”

But that’s on the next sentence.

“To achieve the minimum overall UC-transferable grade point average required, you may need to achieve higher than “C” grades.”

It’s talking about if you are a borderline applicant. Like if you had a GPA below a 3.00 I guess

I’m not boarderline, I got a 3.30 but my GPA for spring would probably be 2.64 from a B in 5unit class, a B in 4 unit class, and a C in 5unit class. Does anyone know anything about the condition of admissions? I can’t call them until monday.

No it’s just saying it in general I believe. I feel like they just want us to keep our overall GPA at a 2.8 in the end.

I hope so. Thanks for your reply chronocross. Also, can anyone else confirm this?

Hey guys,

On my UC application, I put my planned SPRING courses, and my planned Summer courses. I’ve heard many times that UC’s penalize (rescind acceptances) for dropping/failing a SPRING course that you said you were going to take.

BUT, what about a summer course? I put that I was going to take a course (which is NOT a part of my GE’s, IGETC, or major prerequisites) just to pass time and get (another) AA if I didn’t get into the summer internships I applied to.

Well I just got accepted to a summer internship at UC Davis and I have to tell them by tomorrow if I will be accepting. My question is will I be penalized for not taking this useless summer course that I listed as “planned” on my UC application? I really wanna do this internship, but not if I’m going to get rescinded from any possible UC acceptances. (I applied to UCSD, UCD, UCLA, UCB, UCI, if that information helps). Thanks in advance!

“Complete all transferable in progress or planned courses with a GPA of 2.80 or higher, with no grade less than “C,” by the end of your spring term.”
I read this as an overall GPA of 2.8, not of any particular term. You can’t any grade below a C, therefore it means C is fine. I think you are fine.

I hope it really is my bad interpretation of English grammar. Thanks for your reply oldfort. Is anyone else agreeing with this interpretation? And @wordofteekz, I believe you’re fine if it’s planned for summer, I think I’ve seen a thread about someone with the same situation as you and people who replied said that UCD won’t care. But I would still call them to confirm at monday though.

I got the same situation as @WordofTeekz. I send UCSC a email, explaining everything. The admission advisor on the phone said that if you don’t hear back anything then I am in good condition.

Oh oops, I thought you’re talking about UCD, nvm wordofteekz.

Edit: Wait, NVM of the nvm above.

“Complete all transferable in progress or planned courses with a GPA of 2.80 or higher, with no grade less than “C,” by the end of your spring term.” Any english major here to interpret this sentence? Does it mean maintain overall gpa of 2.80 by spring, or maintain SPRING 2.80 gpa.

Bump? :(

I’m getting two different interpretation of: “Complete all transferable in progress or planned courses with a GPA of 2.80 or higher, with no grade less than “C,” by the end of your spring term.” from 4 people.

One of which means 2.80 OVERALL GPA. The other, 2.80 SPRING GPA. CAN ANYONE CONFIRM WHICH ONE IS RIGHT? I’M NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO SLEEP UNTIL I CAN CALL ADMISSIONS ON MONDAY IF NO ONE KNOWS THE ANSWER :(

I think it means Spring qtr.

I think we’ll only get the correct answer from admissions. Can you update us when you give them a call on Monday?

Contact admissions. Keep the rest of us posted on their answer, if you could. Good luck.
