I was reading my provisional contract and it said that I need to get a “B” or higher in my Calculus 2 class, but from the looks of it I will probably get a “C” after this semester. Will I be rescinded? BTW this is the only class I’m taking this semester.
There are so many factors I don’t know - your major, your GPA, your campus. I have seen ppl kept in and told to retake in summer, but you can’t do that as you have a C. Every person I have seen with a C has gotten in, but you just have the one class, which can backfire because it puts your entire term at 2.0.
Really try to work something out with your instructor to get a B-.
FYI to others: this is a prime reason not to take just one hard class. It’s always better to flesh out a term with two additional inconsequential courses to keep the term’s GPA high.
Sorry for the lack of information. I have a 3.85 GPA not counting Spring semester & I’m a economics major. I received my contract from UCI. I was a little confused because on one hand it says to maintain a 2.0 for the term and an overall GPA of 3.0 but on the other it says to get a “B” in Calculus 2.
I would go see your instructor during his office hours, explain your situation and beg for extra credit assignments that will insure a B-. You have half a semester left, there’s no reason you can’t go from a C to a B- in that time.
I had a class last quarter at UCLA where our grade was based on the midterm (25%) a paper (25%), final (40%), attendance (10%). I bombed the midterm with a 70%. I had never received such a low grade. I knew I HAD to kick azz in the paper and final. I got a B+ on the paper and on the final, so I pulled it up to a final grade of B. I didn’t bomb the midterm because I was slacking, but because I was genuinely struggling with the material. I got the help I needed because if I didn’t get at least a C, I couldn’t graduate in June.
My point is follow @fullload 's advice and do whatever you need to do to pull it up.
Yup! One very packed year. My counselor said it couldn’t be done. With I met with her a couple of weeks ago, she had to admit her surprise and that she was impressed.
I’m all over this. I calculated my upper division courses at UCLA and I think I can nail it in a year too, so this is really inspiring. I have no delusions though, I know it won’t be easy. But I really think I can do it. How many units per quarter did you take, in general?
candles, when you were accepted, were you able to register for summer classes at ucla immediately afterwards? I figure this would help, but not sure if it’s allowed?
You can take summer school classes beginning this summer. I took 4 classes each quarter, about 18 units each. I have 1 class to take this summer which is 5 units. I’m happy to answer any other questions about it, but I don’t want to further deraiil this thread. Feel free to PM me or start a new thread
