I am currently really afraid if getting rescinded from UCR. Do you think I will get rescinded if I get in AP Calc BC? I have already completed my math requirement for graduating. My other grades aren’t that great either. I have a B, two C’s, and an A. However, when I got accepted, my grades weren’t much better either. They were a little better, something like a C, two B’s and A’s but no D’s. This is second semester senior year and I am probably going to get a D in math. Will I get rescinded from UCR?
The provisional admission contract states a 3.0 weighted GPA, no D’s or F’s so you need to try your hardest to get a C- or higher in your AP Calc BC course. It does not matter if you have met the a-g course requirements, you still need to pass all Senior classes.
UCR will evaluate ach applicant on a case by case basis so I would do everything within your power to make sure you pass the class. If you do not, you could offer to retake the class either during the summer or take a comparable class at UCR in the Fall. Make sure you let admissions know you are willing to do anything to keep your acceptance and be proactive.
If I don’t meet the 3.0 weighted GPA requirement will that result in a rescind as well? I think I might end with a 2.something GPA. If I manage to get a C in math, my possible grades would be C(AP course), C(AP course), C-(AP course), B, A(AP course). Will that be lower than a 3.0 weighted?
@werster: With 3 weighted courses, it should keep you just above a 3.0. What weighted GPA did you have when you applied?
My weighted gpa was around 3.5
As long as you get no D’s or F’s, you should be fine.
@Gumbymom By the way, I have a free period 6, so I only have 5 periods. Is my gpa divided by 5? or still divided by 6?
Divided by 5.
Ok, now my math grade is a C, but my Japanese grade suddenly plummeted and is now a C- the final has not been posted yet and I’m afraid that I might receive a D. If my language grade is a D instead of my math grade, is it any better? This is my third year taking japanese.
Getting a D or F in any a-g course Senior year is grounds for being rescinded but it is up to each school to determine each individual case. If your final grade does end up to be a D, then all you can do is contact UCR before you send your final transcript and find out what you need to do to maintain your acceptance. If possible, ask if you can retake the class/semester on-line or at a CC if it is an issue. Show them you a serious and will do anything to attend in the Fall.
Update! My final grades are out and I ended with a C in both Japanese and Math! Am I fine now?
Yes, you are fine.
