I got off the Duke wait list on Friday. I had submitted my SIR to Rice, so now I need to decide which school I want to go to. However, about a month and a half ago I was suspended from school for a day for getting around my school's internet block. I know that I'm ok at Rice even with the suspension, but I'm worried about Duke. Worst case scenario for me is if I decide on Duke and withdraw my deposit at Rice, only to have Duke rescind my admission because of the suspension, thus leaving me, to put it lightly, royally screwed. Anyone have any insight/experience they'd like to share? It was my first offense at school; I made a dumb mistake and owned up to it, and it would suck if one slip-up undid everything I've worked for.

I was suspended from school for something much more serious and was still accepted. It happened junior year though. It wouldn’t hurt to ask someone in the admissions office. Call, email, write a letter, etc.

Congrats on getting off the waitlist!

Call the admissions office, and ask. Or write your regional adcom an email. Or write a letter and either email or send it. But I would definitely get an answer from Duke before doing anything with Rice.
