I'm going to be a freshman starting in the spring semester and am wondering whether I'll be able to have somewhat of a choice for UGS 302 courses. It appears that most are "closed" so will I still be able to get in one?

Also, if I get stuck with one I don't choose, will I be able to add a different one later? Also, how hard are UGS courses, in case I'm stuck with a dumb one?

They’ll open once registration starts, I’m assuming. Registration hasn’t even begun for freshmen yet, so they couldn’t possibly already be full.

They’re only for first year students apparently
There will be UGS classes open, but it just may not be the exact class that you would like. I was a transfer last year so I had to to sign up late and I got into the class I wanted

Oh, and to answer your second question, not hard at all. I’ve literally spent about 30 minutes total outside of class on mine. We don’t have tests or assignments or anything. It’s really a waste of time, even though the subject is vaguely interesting. UGS courses aren’t designed to be comprehensive or difficult - BUT, I have a few friends in this one UGS called Sustaining the Planet and they tell me it’s a ridiculous amount of work.

wat UGS were you in buriedalie? Since they are supposed to be easy i don’t want to just pick a random one and it turns out to be one of the needlessly hard classes

My son took one called Global Money or something like that. It was very hard for him, because he didn’t have economics at his OOS high school (I’m not sure why UT didn’t call it a deficiency!). He ended up dropping it. He’ll have to find an easier one for the spring.

onthefly: I’ll PM you the name just because I’ve already posted too many personal details on here.
