Alright so first off how many units max does ucla transfer over from your cc?
I have 69 or 103 qaurter units. I'm planning to change my major and take some classes at ucla to do this.

I know they have a 216 unit cap or something so am I in danger of going over this? I mean I have to take like 4 classes to change my major so I'm a little scared that I might go over.

don't worry about it, if you're on track to graduate in four years (assuming you're a freshman) they won't care all that much. i'd also think that at least some of the classes you took will be part of your major reqs/pre-reqs...

im a transfer student

ok, in that case i'm pretty sure they just expect you to graduate within five years, and as long as you don't take a bunch of random classes and keep changing majors, getting more units shouldn't be a problem.

are transfer students even allowed to switch majors?
i thought they were admitted under one major...

What's the 216 unit cap your talking about?

transfer students are allowed to switch major

the unit cap doesn't allow you go over a certain amount of units without completing your graduation requirements. which means that you can't keep taking classes forever and not graduate. in this case, you're not allowed to exceed 216 units.

If you have the courses you want to take mapped out and it puts you over the 216 limit, go talk to the dean of your college. Deans can make rules disappear with a stroke of their pen. Seriously! I can't guarantee they'll approve what you're planning, but they could.
