Hello everyone,
So I’m at a CCC, and currently am on a english major now. I am thinking of minoring in bio or psychology instead. However, in the first semester of CCC I failed 2 courses. When i make that up or do an academic renewal, my gpa would most likely end with a 3.5 before transferring (with spring not accounted in). Do I still stand a chance for UCLA ? There is a strand of As (4.0) during the last few semesters despite my first year at CCC, please help
there is a sticky at the top of the forum that lets you look up the 25/75 percentiles for each of the UC schools. You can also drill down and look by specific major.
hi thank you for answering, what is the “sticky” ? is that the “what are my chances?”
it is the thread titled " Transfer admit GPAs and rates by major and campus" at the top of this sub-forum
https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/transfers-major
For Fall 2017, the admit GPA range for English major at UCLA was 3.58-3.89 with a 42% admit rate so I would consider UCLA a Reach.
However, your GPA puts you in range for every other UC except UCB as long as you stay an English major.
Major in American Lit and Culture. Same prereqs and you can switch after you get accepted. Many before you have done it.
Mid-range: 3.41-3.73 (It’s gone up!)
Hello thank you for the advice, but can i switch immediately after, or they expect to have done a semester or so to switch over? thank you!
You can switch right away as long as the prereqs are complete, so unless they’ve changed them recently, they’re the same. Now, having said this I’m going by what has been happening in the past and what other applicants have done. The dept might be making it harder, but it seems unlikely.
