Will I have any issue getting into MSU?

I love MSU (went on a visit today, it was spectacular!), but, if you’ve read my previous posts, you’d know I have my heart set on UMich. However, I would still gladly attend MSU if UMich doesn’t work out. Will I most likely get in?

My MSU recalculated GPA (assuming an A/A+ is a 4.0, an A- is a 3.7, etc.): 3.88
My ACT: 30
President of Spanish Club
Secretary of Drama Club
Have about 70 hours of volunteering at Great Lakes Rabbit Sanctuary
Have about 50 hours of volunteering as a tutor in my school
Won an in-school Summa Cum Laude award for having a cumulative GPA of 3.9
Shadowed my doctor for over 50 hours
NHS member
My essay might be weak - I don’t want to spend too much time on it when I could be spending more time on my UMich ones

Don’t get me wrong, MSU is fantastic. But I believe UMich is just a better fit for me (closer to home, SLIGHTLY better fin. aid, and just a better feel for me). As I said, I loved MSU, and can more than easily see myself there.

Will I have any problems getting in?

Your stats look good. I talked to an admissions counselor at MSU just yesterday and with my 3.6 GPA and 22 ACT he said I should be fine and he pretty much guaranteed me admission on the spot. My situation is a bit different so that might be why, but I think you have a great chance at getting in! Good luck!
