Will I Have to Start College All Over Again?

So basically, I went to UCSD for 2 years and then decided to transfer to UCI. I got accepted, and that is where I am going right now. However, at UCSD, I completed all but one of my GEs (I got waitlisted and ended up not getting in by the end of Week 2 during my last quarter there). Now that I’m at UCI, I don’t know if I’ll have to do my GEs all over again just because I couldn’t get into that one class. A UCSD advisor said that I would have to send a letter of reciprocity concerning my GEs, but there isn’t a guarantee that they will honor it because I didn’t complete all of my GEs at UCSD.

Does this mean I have to do GEs all over again at UCI just because I’m missing 1 GE class from UCSD? Or will UCI just give me a few extra classes to make up for that missing GE? I completed the 7 course pattern and reached the required units to transfer without that 1 GE course, but will I still have to do them all over again? I was hoping to get an answer here because I can’t sleep at night over this. The thought of having to start all over terrifies me, so any help is appreciated thank you :(( I’m cursing the fact I couldn’t get into PHIL 28 earlier at UCSD :((

I’m sure you won’t have to start all over again. Why can’t you just sign up for the class at UCI? The best person to ask is a UCI advisor. Call or email and make an appointment. I don’t think this will be a big issue. If it’s a GE, you might even be able to take it over the winter break at a community college.

Unless you finished all your GE’s at UCSD, you will probably not get the Reciprocity letter. I do not see an issue, just take the missing GE at UCI.

All you have to do is take the missing GE at UCI.

Worse case scenario finish the final online course at UCSD and get the LoR. Talk with that campus because they usually allow a UC extension course, but if course that is at the discretion of UCSD.
