I looked at the "things to bring" page for new students, and it said that bikes are recommended to bring since the campus is big. But wouldn't a bike be useless when it's snowing or icy or slushy? Is it really practical to bring a bike, and is there a place to store it when you're not using it?

Most (if not all) dorms have bike rooms, and there are bike racks outside dorms and scattered around campus (be sure to bring a lock). They’re certainly not necessary, but they can be nice to have during good weather. I rode my bike to class/various meetings on nice days as a freshman, and I liked having it as an option (I now live on West and didn’t bother bringing it lol). During the winter, you can use your free bus pass if you don’t feel like walking.
