My orientation date is on the 27th, will some classes be filled up by then since it is one of the last orientation dates?

probably majority of the classes would be filled up.

Yeah, the popular classes would be filled up. Either that, or the more decent times would be filled up, leaving really early or really late classes.

I went to the last or second to last orientation date for my college and I couldn’t take any classes for my major the first quarter. I took all breadth requirements and English 001C (the only options available to me were 7-8 a.m. or 5:00-6:30 p.m.)

Do you sign up for different classes every quarter? If so, I wouldn’t really mind taking all breadth classes the first quarter. It would be alot easier wouldn’t it? Then when I’m settled in, I would start taking my classes for my major.

Yes, at the end of each quarter you sign up for the next quarter’s classes.

True, it would be easier to take all breadth classes the first quarter. But there are some majors that have heavy unit requirements for the major in addition to breadth courses.

For example, Electrical Engineering majors have 70 required lower-division units and 81 required upper-division units with less breadth classes. Anthropology majors have 16 lower-division units and 36-40 upper-division units and more breadth classes. If I were an EE major, I would spread out the breadth classes to have a little breathing room. But to each their own; I know someone who has been taking only major-required Bio and Chem classes for all the quarters this year.

Your major advisor will save you some classes

I think that they save up some classes just for freshmen. I attended orientation in the middle and I got all the classes I wanted, except for maybe like one.

dont worry about it you have soooo many breadth requirements to take. its not that big of a deal if you dont get the classes you want
