Will I regret transferring from UCCS to CU Boulder?

I’m a freshman at UCCS currently at a pre-med student. I was very excited to come here and after this first semester it is not everything I dreamed of. I’m involved in clubs and such but I don’t have many friends really besides my roommates who I’m very close with. I also have a boyfriend who I met here. I’m very happy with him but we would have to breakup if I transferred. I can’t take the classes I need to take or major in what I want and I just feel like I’m not getting the proper education I need to go to medical school after college. I’m very unhappy here but the only thing holding me back is I know my roommates who have become my best friends and boyfriend won’t talk to me. I’m not sure what to do and I’m afraid if I transfer I would regret it. But transferring to Boulder would allow me to live at home and be with all of my friends back home. I’m really debating this and I don’t know what to do. I only have a few days to decide since I want to transfer in the spring. Any advice would be great.

If your roommate is really your friend, the relationships should be able to withstand the distance.
A boyfriend could be different, but if you’re both committed, that could work out as well.

It sounds as if you already know the answer to this and are simply fearful about taking the next step.
All you really need to consider is what is best for you and your future academically.

If you can’t get the requisite courses required for medical school - transfer.
If you don’t have access to good pre-med advising - transfer.
If you are able to live at home and that saves you and your family money that can be used later for med/grad school - transfer.
If you already have a built-in social life that you would be happier with - transfer.

What you might want to do is to kick the can down the road a bit. Meaning apply to Boulder now, and when you have an acceptance in hand, then decide what to do.
In the meanwhile, find an advisor at your current school and have a candid talk to see if you’re missing something
from the academic equation before you transfer.
