Will I still be able to get into medical school if I go to Chico instead of USC?

I am currently attending the University of Southern California. I started my education at Santa Barbara City College. At Santa Barbara I received a 4.0 GPA. I transferred to USC with 46 units and a 4.0 GPA from SBCC. I have been at USC for almost two semesters. My GPA at USC is currently a 3.25. I am hoping to get it up to a 3.5 GPA by the end of this semester. I have also taken some classes at Sac City College, so my overall GPA is a 3.75. I am a Junior in college and my major is Psychology. I am premed, but I will finish four of my science classes for med school outside of the school I graduate from. I have volunteered at a hospital and am planning on participating in more extracurric. I hope to also work in a Derm. office the year I talk off to finish my sciences before I apply to med school.

My question is: I really dislike living LA & I'm not really enjoying my time at USC at all. I want to transfer to CSU Chico and I think I can keep a really high GPA. Will me going to Chico instead of USC from my BA really affect my chances of getting into a good medschool & in the end getting a good job?

Hello Meggy. First and foremost, medical school isn’t personally my road, but I do know one thing about it. Good grades/GPA. That’s the name of the game, and of course a good MCAT. In the end it doesn’t really matter too much where you did your undergrad. As a matter of fact, it doesn’t really matter aalll that mcuh where you do MedSchool in the US either (Since they’re all fantastic quality-speaking.)
At this point all you need to worry about, if you really want to transfer, is being in a suitable place for your needs. A place where you can live comfortably and be able to achieve the most. Remember, good grades, that’s all that matters at the end of the line, not university name.

Then again I could be wrong Shrugs , maybe some other Pre-Med user can help you better. In any case, good luck! It won’t be easy, but I’m sure you’ve come to terms with that ;)
