Will I Still Be An NHS Member When I Transfer Schools?

At the end of last year, I was accepted into NHS. I haven’t paid any dues or anything but I do have a letter that shows that I have been accepted. I am transferring to a new school this year and I want to know if I will still be able to be a part of their club.
Thank you

It depends on the individual policy of the school/teacher who runs it. Your best bet is to email the school or go to the office and ask to speak to whoever is in charge of NHS. If you explain your situation and express that you would really like to be in the club, there is probably a good chance they will accept you, if not this year, then next year.

I would think about NHS a few ways.

  1. What did it take for you to get into NHS? In our HS, you have to have >3.5 GPA recommendation of teachers, and 100 hours, community service including leadership. So whether or not you you get into NHS in your new school, those things are valuable when applying to college.

  2. You got into NHS. You can say that on your college application: Inducted into National Honor Society, 2015

  3. Participating in NHS activities …Maybe your NHS does tutoring and you would like to do that too. Talk to the teacher about being apart of their club.
Or you might say that I DON’T care about actual NHS activities and that is okay too…you can put it on your application like I mentioned above.
