I filled out my Fafsa application about three weeks ago, and haven’t received any further messages other than that it was processing. They just recently carried over the financial aid to pay for the current semester, so I’m guessing they need more time. But I clicked on the Financial Aid part of my user account for my school and it said “You have no financial aid awards available for viewing in this aid year” there was also this error code 14409,551. Is this bad? Will I get approved later on?
So you’re a continuing student right? The fafsa you submitted 3 weeks ago was the 2015-2016 fafsa for the school year starting next fall, correct? If you log in to your 2015-2016 fafsa at fafsa.ed.gov, what is it’s status there? It seems the error you are getting on your school site would be for the 2014-2015 fafsa and school year and it may be you get that error because the spring amount was just applied to the spring semester bill. Each school portal is going to work somewhat differently. ‘This aid year’ could mean the 2014-2015 aid year so clarify this a little.
Yes I am a continuing student, and I applied for the fall 2015/spring 2016 semester. The error code was on the page which should have shown the aid for the fall15/spring16 semesters. On the Fafsa website it only says that the school has received the info, and if they need to will contact me.
Most schools have not given aid awards to continuing students at this time. In fact, many have not awarded aid to incoming freshmen yet.
As a continuing stusent, it is likely you won’t see your aid award until end of May or even later. My kids never got their continuing aid until the summer.
Relax…you school likely has not even looked at continuing students yet…they are doing incoming freshmen now.
If you are concerned, just call the financial aid office and ask when continuing students will receive their awards. I bet it’s not for at least a couple of months…but the school will be able to tell you.
