Will IB affect acceptance within US?

I am a student in the US, who is hoping to get accepted overseas into a UK Med school and get my MBBS. In order to do this, my best option is to graduate with the International Baccaulaureate.

However, I am concerned that if I go ahead and do the IB Diploma Programme, this will decrease the likelihood that top colleges and unis within the US will accept me, if things do not work out overseas.

Any info/experience/advice is much appreciated.

Thank you!

IB is accepted both nationally and internationally. it's not going to decrease your chances in national universities at all. if anything, if you get the diploma, it'll increase your chances.

Can I ask, do you know this from experience or is this general knowledge?

general knowledge and common sense. IB is a prestigious program. completing it isn't going to decrease any chances at all.
