I'm interested in attempting to break into ib after undergrad...

I just finished a summer internship at a major tech corporation (think Google/Microsoft/Apple) in a financial analyst position. I'm entering my last year at a non-target (but respectable) state school in CA (think Irvine/Davis) and have a fairly high GPA (3.8).

Does this type of internship help at all in pursuing an IB analyst position in SF? Do I have a chance, or would I be better off working at x big corporation for a few years, then B-school, then trying to break in?

Any advice on what steps to take seeing as how I only have a year left of undergrad and would have to land a position during fall recruiting?

Given your school and GPA, if you want to get into tech banking, you will be in pretty good shape with the help of your internship. If you’ve had some interesting experiences while at your internship, you should be in good shape to make the move to IB after u grad. You willl need to network a lot - look to alumni to start - from there, you will want to make sure your resume is in good shape and you’ve got a good understanding of IB and why you want to pursue it. Finally, keep your eyes open for opportunities - not just BB, but MM and boutiques with a tech focus will also be helpful. Additionally, having some relevant coursework would help as well.
