Will it affect the chance to get into UCSD if I will leave three major pre-reqs for spring

:) I have heard from an honor counselor that it is better to have all the major pre-reqs done by Fall, 'cause university can look at them. I want to apply for UCSD CS major, and it is marked as impacted effective in FAll2015. I wonder how much will it affect if I leave three CS major pre-reqs to 2015SPRING? 'cause they won't have the chance to look at them before they make decision, isn't it? If is does matter, I might have an intense schedule for FALLl... :(

can someone answer my question?

@springtree I want to say it won’t affect your chances? I got into Cal with two pre-reqs in the spring and one in the summer. I applied to an impacted major (but the way Cal deals with that is by having a separate application for the major after you’ve transferred that you fill out during your first semester there). If you have a strong history of good grades, I don’t see why they wouldn’t expect for those grade trends to continue with the pre-reqs that they don’t have grades for yet.

Small amendment, I am actually taking three major per-requisites in the spring and one in the summer, so I really wouldn’t worry about not having all your pre-reqs done. It’s all about grade history and grade trends.

can i know what major are you by any chance?

From what I’ve read, even if you didn’t get into CS, you will be admitted as undeclared, or to other less popular major like Math-CS. I wouldn’t worry.

@springtree I’m a Public Health major! :)

@DrGoogle Does that mean I will need to put an alternate major on my general application?

I would think so because that is what UCSD does with freshman admissions.

Yeah, most UCs have the option of an alternate major. Look through the list carefully and find a major that you’d also be interested in if your first choice is full. I also applied to UCI this year and, if I remember correctly, they did let me mark down an alternate major.
