Will it be bad to add extracurriculars senior year?

I didn't do a whole lot my freshman/sophomore years, i basically just did orchestra related activities. i regret it a lot because i could have become a much better person and made closer friends earlier if i had joined activities. i joined 3 clubs my junior year and kept orchestra so i have much more now, but i want to find volunteer or job things in the summer, and i want to join student council for senior year.

however, if i do this will it look like i'm 'padding' my activities for college apps? i honestly just enjoy being involved and i wish i could be more, but i dont want to add it if it will make me look bad.

thanks!

Getting an internship, job, or volunteering still has value. However joining a club senior year does come off as resume padding. You don’t have any time to really get involved with the club or gain a leadership position before college apps. It’s essentially pointless.
