Will it hurt me to take a year off of Spanish?

I’m currently a junior in high school. In freshman year, I took Spanish I. In In the spring semester of Sophomore year Sophomore year, I took Spanish II. I’m currently signed up to take Spanish III in the spring of Sophomore year, but i’m considering dropping it in order to double up on math this year so I can take AP Calculus senior year(my school is on the quarter system). If I did this, I would take Spanish III in the fall of senior year and potentially Spanish IV in the spring of senior year. I’m worried, however, that I might forget a lot of Spanish in between II and III because I will be taking them a year and a two months apart. I plan to do Rosetta Stone Spanish in between now and then in order to avoid forgetting the Spanish I learned, but i’m still worried. Will it be hard to go a year without Spanish even if I do Rosetta Stone practice? What are your thoughts?

Is Spanish IV equivalent to 2nd year high school Spanish in other schools, or 4th year high school Spanish in other schools due to having a less common type of schedule?

Any of your friends heritage speakers of Spanish? If you talk to them in Spanish whenever you see them, that may give you practice.

To it is equal to Spanish IV in other schools. The main thing I am worried about it going from Spanish II to Spanish III. Spanish III and IV I plan to take back to back, so that shoulsn’t be an issue.
