Will it look bad if I take the ACT, but not the SAT? I'm taking SAT IIs as well, which would clearly show that I have access to taking the SAT. Will it look bad to colleges, as if maybe I'm hiding something?

I have the same question…

No. Most people only take one.

What about subject tests?

There not necessary, but they can definitely benefit. I suggest at least 2.

If you have good ACT scores then there is no need to take SAT I, but go ahead to take SAT IIs. As an example, as school like Cornell will take ACT over SAT I, but it would still require students to take 2 SAT IIs. Because it doesn’t do score choice, if you took SAT I and received bad scores, you would have no choice but to send in ALL SAT scores. A school like Yale will take ACT over SAT I and IIs. There is no upside to take SAT I if you are happy with your ACT scores.

Some colleges require subject tests for admission, some will consider subject tests, most don’t care.

Colleges readily accept either ACT or SAT. If you do well enough for colleges to which you intend to apply on one, there is no reason to take the other except that some should take the SAT to attempt to qualify for the SAT’s National Merit Award if they have a high enough PSAT.

You should also take SAT subject tersts if any of the colleges to which you intend to apply requires or recommends them. Some that usually require them, such as Yale, Penn and Brown, accept the ACT in lieu of both the SAT and SAT subject tests, but others, like the rest of the ivies, require SAT subject tests even if you submit ACT.
