My situation is a little different. Right now I'm taking H Precal, AP eng, and AP Calc. On top of that I have credit recovery and soon I'll be starting classes for Foster Youth. I no longer have time for anything but hw. I don't sleep until 2 and a lot of times I do hw during lunch. Also, I haven't gotten a good foundation of pre-cal so Calculus is really hard for me to understand. I feel I'd be a lot more successful in the clasw if I wait until next year. The problem is this is my 1st yr taking AP's so the only AP class i'd have is English. Will this look bad to colleges?

Also, I plan to major in math when I go to college.

You’re overthinking things. Most people who take AP Calc do so in their Sr year

From the students I know, there are probably 1% or so taking AP Calc before senior.

I would definitely take pre-calc before taking AP calc - I would NOT take them at the same time. That’s just setting yourself up to fail in AP calc. Take H Precalc. Study it thoroughly so you understand all the concepts. Next year take AP calc.

Very few students take math classes beyond calculus in high school.

Take precalculus before taking calculus.

Those who take calculus before senior year in high school are very unusual; most students who take calculus in high school take it in senior year.

There are also many students without taking Calculus (even non-AP) in high school at all.

Thanks everyone, that’s reassuring. Actually at my high school most students take AP Calculus junior year. There are only a few seniors, and a lot of my peers have stated that they haven’t really used anything from pre-calculus, and I did as well(or as bad, it was a very difficult test) as they did on the first test. The problem is the time I spend. If it’s true that most students wait until senior year than it doesn’t worry me so much. Thanks for the input everyone.
