Im a life scout right now but by the time I turn EAGLE i will already have my applicaTION into the mail for my congressman. Should I put “pending eagle scout” or what should I do? Will it affect my chances? thanks

I'd put pending and the date you get it (so it shows you'll have it very soon)

bump...........

why bump it 2 hours after a post?.....

Do what sj said and put when you plan to have it. You can always call them and tell them when you get it so they can update your profile.

the reason I bumped it was because he answered it good but I wanted to know if it affected my chances thats all.

the point of bumping is to get your thread back at the top of the list on the thread index... which it probably already was. o well. do you know if your district submits a list or if they send everybody in as competitive? If they send it in as competitive i doubt it will matter..

Yes, I think it does matter. amd I second sj2009 -- pending, with a date, and get it done. The percentage of cadets who are either Eagle or Gold Scouts is much higher than than in the general high school grad population. Achieving Eagle or Gold -- on top of academic and athletic accomplishments -- demonstrates your leadership, ability to balance multiple priorities, ability to achieve long range plans, and service orientation.

Yes it does 09Mom_USAFA but I will DEFINETELY have it accomplishes before my 18th birthday (when your chances of becoming eagle expires) so I will be entering the academy with my eagle scout status. :)

Lol. Waiting till the last days before the 18th birthday, welcome to the club.

what i was told is if you have any accomplishments after your applications are sent in for the congressmen u can either mail or fax in an update.

usafa2010 your absolutely right but if i did that means I would have to go to 1 year of civilian college then transfer because im hoping to get a nomination my senior year not after I graduate due to the dates my congressman puts up.

my congressmen even after my meeting told me to keep sending in more stuff and it would help my chances. So as long as you reach eagle scout sometime before or right after your interviews you'll be fine.

ok thANK YOU.....

no problem.. that eagle scout will help you out a lot definently mention in your meeting that you're going to soon reach it if you haven't gotten it by then.

I know a lot of people here who were Eagle Scouts...:O
