I am an international from Tanzania. I am thinking of applying to KAIST. The admission officers from KAIST came last year to the high school I was going to and gave a presentation, which made me fall in love with the school. I have an unweighted GPA of 5.0, which is the highest one can get, 34 composite in ACT, 800s in SAT2 Math2, Physics and Chemistry and a 108 in the TOEFL IBT.
You know, KAIST is in Korea, so…can you speak Korean?
No I can’t speak Korean. Will that affect my chances of getting in?
@paul2752 The language of instruction in KAIST classes is English, pretty sure the OP needs no previous Korean language experience.
@Persimests58 Your stats are amazing for an Afrcan student. I’m wondering why you’ve limited yourself to KAIST. You can possibly get into top tier schools with FA/Merit aid.
I m not worried about classes being taught in Korean, and I know they are taught in English.
However, if he wants to study in Korea, he or she certainly need to know some Korean to communicate with others, right?
Also, why just Kaist? why not America, or other top schools with FA/merit aid like malcomx99 said?
I am waiting to hear from Princeton this Wednesday. I feel like my chances of getting into a US university a quite low because I have average ECs and essays. KAIST admission, I heard, is more focused on academics so I think I have a better chance there.
