I just got accepted into the Kelley Living Learning Community. I am interested in joining, however I have a few worries about this.

Will the required courses, seminars, and stuff get in the way of other activities, like rush? I really want to join a fraternity but I fear the KLLC could possibly prevent (or hinder) me from doing so.

Also, do the students in this community ever party? I know its in McNutt (huge party dorm), but I feel like theres a good chance a bunch of nerds will live there.

Seems like a great opportunity that I wouldn't want to miss out on, and maybe I'm just jumping to conclusions, but what are your thoughts?

oh and last thing, is freshman rush during the fall or spring semester?

Hey pcharles,

I was in the KLLC last year, and there were required courses (1 credit hours per semester), and it was an easy A, which if anything is a good thing. The classes themselves take less than 4 hours a week (2 hours of class, MAYBE 2 hours of homework). I had a number of friends who rushed during the semester while in the KLLC, they managed no problem. Also, depending on your floor people may party hard or very little. You’ll be rushing a fraternity however, which means your weekends will be busy managing your frat’s parties anyways. If you really wanna party in the dorms, host the party and people will come, that’s what I found.

Let me know if you have any more Q’s. I’m mentoring you guys next year!

Oh, and guys rush is both spring and fall. I hear spring rush is usually better.
