Will low 1st GP grades hurt me?

Most of my applications are due before the first semester ends. So the guidance office sends the grades from the first grading period. I suppose the first semester grades would come with the mid-year report or something.

So the grading period ends in like a couple of days. I have all Bs and one A. I am really worried because most of my grades last year were all As, with the exception of my straight B average in IB Bio :|

Also my school just reports letters, no + or - indications. So, maybe colleges might think that all my Bs are actually like 89.4%. Hahah, rather unlikely. But really, what will colleges make of the sudden drop?

From what I understand, applications are typically due earlier than the grade report. Check with the college.

brandnewstate, what colleges are you applying to?

well none of these are definite, but:

Vassar, Rice, Swarthmore, Wesleyan, Barnard, Emory, Washington U in STL, MiamiU

aigiqinf: I already checked. There all due before the end of the semester. Well the ones that I care about anyway.

I have the exact opposite question…

Will high first quarter grades help?
I’m sending in first quarter grades to all EA/priority schools, hoping they’ll boost my app.
