I am currently a Freshmen at USC majoring in Business at Marshall School of Business. I want to pursue a career in Medicine and Business but ultimately in Pediatrics. I wanted to know if majoring in Business and doublemajoring in Bio or a premed track would be wise to pursue med school. I am looking into UCLA or USC Med Schools particularly. This is not a chance thread but rather I want to know if my Major choices are appropriate to my goal of going into Medical Programs in top programs.

Thanks!

I’d just take the pre-med courses, do pre-med activities, and otherwise focus on majoring in Business. Double majoring is a heavy burden when the majors are so far apart like your two.

Would you consider minor? D. has 2 minors and doing just fine. One of minors is very remote (Music Composition), she loves it so much, great way to relax for her after challenging classes like Orgo or Physiology (she loves them also, talks about them all the time but it does help her tremendously to be away from science and be involved in creative process.) According to her, she has advantage looking at (for example) physics problem from different (creative) prospective, with very positive outcome.

Minors are great because they give you the experiences that you are seeking in a given field without the sheer time commitment of a major.
