I’m just asking because i know MIT is a science oriented school, and i’m interested in humanities.
Yes
It’s fine to like humanities. MIT’s humanities department is ranked top 5 in the nation. However, you should love STEM because you’ll be studying it for the majority of your time. Anyone who doesn’t will feel they don’t fit in.
MIT does not admit by major. You pick your major at the end of freshman year. They do ask on the admissions form what you intend to major in and then if you are admitted they use this to help them decide which freshmen to assign to which freshman advisor.
You will need to take a fair amount of math and physics if you attend MIT (every student does), and at least one chemistry course and at least one lab course. There is also a science distribution requirement.
I did know a history major when I was there. I also knew two people who graduated from MIT and then went to law school.
If you transfered after 2 years do you choose your major after your admitted?
“If you transfered after 2 years”
MIT accepts very few transfer students. I will admit that I never met a transfer student when I was there.
Why would you want to transfer to MIT after 2 years as a humanities major?
