You guys have a good argument, it is reasonable to believe many of the deferred, given the low percentage, are kids they would have taken in the ED round if they had more space. I for one will be very interested in seeing how this plays out…

i hope more are accepted, I was deferred ED and found out that im waitlisted at williams, amherst, middlebury and davidson…doesn’t bode well but im hopeful, still love dartmouth!

I’m pulling for you, pinkpineapple! They’re nuts if they don’t take you.

So many waitlists are a torture. Do you have any acceptances?

Yes, I have 2 - colby and bates. but i still want dartmouth sooo badly and of my 4 waitlists - davidson took none off the WL last year but the other three took some people so I’m still hoping.

I racked up a looooot of rejections this weekend, I’m thinking that my deferral was a fluke. STILL, I wish the best for all of you!! Hopefully we all end up happy somehow, somewhere.

This thread is getting my hopes up! It sounds like Dartmouth deferred a group of students they were really interested in, but were not quite ready to accept. I was deferred early, and my college counselor told my the adcom was “intrigued by me academically” but were unsure of my ability as a leader and my involvement with the community. But after three recent acceptances to Rice, Northwestern, and Wash U, I feel like I have a better chance of being accepted. And bananafish, I doubt you being deferred is a fluke or anythingI’m sure there is something that Dartmouth was intrigued by in your application since they only deferred 140 students. Over sixty percent of the ED applicants were denied, so at least you weren’t in that group.

Wow, this has made me feel so much better about Dartmouth. I know this sounds silly, but after being deferred I felt like Dartmouth had broken up with me. It hurt! But now, even if I don’t get in, I’ll feel a little better knowing they deferred me because they liked something about me. :)

well, i got rejected. howd everyone else do?

Rejected as well. At least I wasn’t waitlisted, that would have just been annoying. I sent in an extra rec from the director of the school shows, two essays as creative writing, a theater supplement video, and scans of our literary magazine since I’m the editor this year. A lot of effort with nothing to show for it I think sums up the whole experience.

Son got accepted!!! He’s happy but is still considering school from which he received an early write.

rejected as well

Rejected too.

Son was accepted as well. We are thrilled but shocked.

rejected here also

Rejected as well. It was hardly a surprise.

accepted! i know one other deferral acceptance but thats it…any news on how this worked out?
