Basically, I was caught smoking during one of my periods the other day during school at a house roughly a block from our school. Anyways, I'm on a 5 day suspension right now but I could possibly be expelled. My parents are debating, after talking to an attorney, about pulling me out of school so that I can at least graduate.

I was accepted to the University of Washington and I committed but how is this going to adversely affect my acceptance? I heard that if I'm expelled my acceptance will be revoked but what about the suspension alone? Also, if my parents pull me out of school to either home school me or send me to a private school for the remainder of the year (18 days), how will that affect my acceptance?

I know a screwed up big time so please, don't tell me that I screwed up. I already know that. :(

That's actually fairly typical. There is a no drug zone for X number of miles around a school zone and anything caught in there can get really heavy penalties. I don't see how they could expel you though. You may want to contact the school and explain what happened.

It was marijuana. Sorry for not clarifying. I'm not sure how strict my school's policy regarding this situation is but I think it's possibly zero tolerance. :( It does seem that the administration is trying to work with me though to make sure that this doesn't affect my college admission.

My principal threw out the idea of just coming out about it to UoW saying that it was a mistake and I screwed up big, seeing as how I have a clean past and this is my first time in trouble. He said last year a kid was in a similar situation and that's what he did and it worked for him I think.

Oh my gosh that REALLY changes things. Most schools are zero tolerance. They may take it into account that you're getting ready to graduate and that you have a clean record. If they do be very thankful lol. Good luck to you either way though.

Edit. Just saw that you were expelled. Well, as I was saying, my friend was expeled for hitting his girlfriend and plans to finish his English requirement with a private tutor (English is the only credit he needs to graduate). He'll still get to graduate from our high school (no commencement ceremony though).

I don't think this will affect admission unless your original high school notifies your college. Feel free to double-check with them. If they don't, you probably won't face any troubles. If you do, see if they can stress this is your first offence and so on...

And as I said in my original post, kick the habit...

If UW hears about it, it might raise some eyebrows, but so long as its a first-time offense and the school doesn't resort to using the legal system against you...

It's one of those things that until it actually happens, you never think it's going to happen to you. :( And I never really factored in the fact that it would be considered "on campus"...

A neighbor called the police as we were walking into the backyard since it wasn't actually any of our houses, but we did have permission to be there.
