my friend has been slacking off his seniro year alot, no D’s or F’s though but he did get all C’s it states that u must maintain a 3.0 average if he fails to do this will my friends admission be revoked or is it not that strictly enforced. (so far hes gotten into UCSC, UCR, and UCI) had over a 4.0 last year. This can sorta apply to me too since ive been slacking with him but not to the same extent.

If it specifically states 3.0, he should probably keep a 3.0. My principal talked to everyone in our class about this and passed out a letter (names blocked out) from UCSC revoking admission due to an unsatisfactory senior year. It was dated August 23rd, so the student thought they were home free by then. It's really not worth risking it.

by the way, was it 3.0 cumulative or senior year?

the UCI website says

"# Your senior-year GPA in UC-approved courses must be at least 3.00."

Your Admission to UC Irvine is Subject to Cancellation IF:

* You do not satisfy any of the above conditions; or

I think as long as you have a 3.0 or better for all of your senior year semesters/quarters then it is ok. However, I have heard that it is a 3.0 UNweighted gpa. If this is true then a B in an AP class will still count as a 3.0. Can anyone confirm this?

It would be great if one of the rescind letters (with name black out of course) was posted so that people could see the colleges do really back up what they say...I think it was good the principal shared that letter

a representative from UCSD came to our school and she said that the 3.0 is UNWEIGHTED so you get additional points for AP classes and what not but you cannot get any D's or F's.

wait...if the 3.0 is unweighted, that means i have to get at least all B's? w/ harder courses this semester, thats kinda hard for me :(

yeah.... i got a 3.0 UW flat first semester (yes, I slacked like silly), which came out to a 3.3W.... do you guys think i'm ok?

Here's the letter:

August 23,____

Dear ______,

Regretfully, I must withdraw our offer of admission to UC Santa Cruz because you did not meet the conditions that accompanied your letter of admission. In particular, you failed to successfully complete your senior year with satisfactory grades.

This is a painful step for us to take, and may be difficult for you to accept; however, it does not necessarily spell the end to your goal of studying at UC Santa Cruz. We encourage you to consider the option of reapplying after completing two years of transferable course work at an accredited college or university.

The Universuty of California maintains a strong relationship of advising and articulated course agreements withthe California community college system. A listing of transfer centers within the state can be found at www.cccco.edu/divisions/ss/transfer/trans_resources.htm . A transfer center advisor or community college counselor can help you plan an appropriate transfer program that will allow you to complete your studies at the University of California.

If you have any questions regarding this matter, please feel free to contact me directly at ()-____. In the meantime, please accept my best wishes for your future success in pursuing your educational goals.

Sincerely,

Wait, 3.0 unweighted? So getting all B's and one C would get your admission rescinded? Even if it's all in AP classes?

sweatdrop

I think....but UCI_Hopeful's statement does not make sense to me. If the UCSD person said its 3.0 UNWEIGHTED, then that means a B in an ap class counts as 3.0. If it is 3.0 unweighted, then if someone is taking 6 aps senior year and gets 5 Bs and 1 C....then i think they will get kicked out of their UCs??? Seems unfair to me.

Out of curiousity, what's the numerical conversion (1-100) of a 3.0GPA?

oh my BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the 3.0 is weighted!!! again the 3.0 is WEIGHTED WEIGHTED WEIGHTED according to a UCSD scpokesperson.

uci hopefull, did you end up getting in?

what is a gpa of 3.0 converted numerically and whats the difference between weighted and unweighted

3.0 is a B-, so that would be around 80-83%

Can anyone else confirm that you need a 3.0 weighted gpa? I have been hearing that it is 3.0 unweighted.

I'm 99% sure it's weighted. And on the conversion I've heard everything from 75-85

oh phew
