Will my admission be revoked?

Hello,

So I recently got accepted into CU Boulder’s school of arts and science and am planning to go there this fall of 2015! (GO BUFFS) Only problem is, I got a D in AP Statistics last semester and am planning to drop AP Stats for the second semester. Is there any chance my acceptance could be revoked because of this? I have never gotten a D before, nor have I dropped a class before either. Im a fairly average student but not perfect.

I am planning to call the admissions office tomorrow to ask but I would appreciate some opinions on here!
Thanks!

Based on the recent CC threads, it seems like although a D shouldn’t get your decision revoked (an F might), it may raise a red flag.

If you can bring up your other grades, or, if your GC could somehow explain this D, then you should be fine.

NO! an F can if that class is a requirement. VERY Rarely is a decision revoked and when it is it is because flunked a few classes and those were needed as a requirement.

II’d contact the school and see if dropping the class will be a problem. If they say it is OK, get it in writing. If you have a decent guidance counselor you can talk to him/her even before contacting the school

My friends D wanted to drop an AP class (one of four she was taking) and her ED school said that if she dropped the class they would re-evaluate her ED acceptance – so she got a tutor and stuck it out rather than risk it.

If you decide to keep the class, I’d do something like meet with your teacher regularly, get a tutor, ask a friend to help etc.

I would expect them to review your file. If it seems like it is not part of a trend, they will likely not revoke admission. If you get below a C next term, as well, they will review your file again. That is not a happy circumstance.

While I have never heard that a C has been bases for getting rescinded, some colleges will revoke for D and dropping a course they accepted you assuming you would take. The State colleges in CA can do and will do although they no not always, I do personally know student that happened to. I would talk to them before dropping.

Have you discussed this with your GC? That would be my first action; s/he probably has more inforamtion – and reasonable advice – that is specific to your situation.
