I recently got accepted to UVA, but I am concerned because I know I have to send in a final transcript and I am afraid I will get a D (worst case scenario an F) in math, and maybe a C in one of my history courses, but I am sure I will get As in all the rest of my courses. Will they revoke my admission if I fail or get a D in any of the courses? I’m really worried because I only have one week till the final exam and I don’t think at this point I could do anything major to improve my failing grade in math.
Yes.
No D, no F, no cheating, no trouble with the law. Any one of these is cause for being rescinded.
Go see the teachers and ask what you can do - make up work, extra credit, anything you must do to get a C.
Yes. Look at the Terms and Conditions on the acceptance letter. It most likely contains language like “It is a condition of this offer that you must complete your present course work with distinguished grades.”
An F (or a D) fails those conditions. Follow @MYOS1634 's advice. Good luck.
Oh okay thank you for letting me know, it’s just while I was on this website, people had similar questions and I heard that one D wouldn’t hurt. Which is why I wanted to make sure myself with my specificities. Thank you.
If anyone else has an opinion about this please let me know, I would like to know if there is a possibility if they would be willing to ignore the only D in my course and still hold admission for me. As I heard, they don’t accept people based on one course but what they have done in the past years in college. That’s what I was reading on this website at least, however I am trying my best to get a C in math.
You have to ask them. But it’s not a matter of opinion: D, F, cheating and trouble with the law lead to rescission. That’s the rule. You’d like to hear something else but email UVA. Getting in front of the problem will help you. And when you call them, you better be able to tell them you’ve already talked to the teacher and do w,x, and z to bring that back to the C you’re able to have.
