I’m in my second semester of senior year and will have 1 F and the rest A’s/B’s. The failing class is a class I don’t need to graduate, will my admission get revoked?
Talk to your HS counselor. I remembered when I failed a science class, UT informed me to take an online science class for credit recovery. That was the method that allowed my admission not get revoked.
Is it too late to avoid the F? Have you talked to the teacher about what you can do to pass?
Yah it’s too late, I figured I didn’t have to pass because I don’t need it to graduate.
That attitude won’t help you get ahead at UT - or in life. I hope you have chosen a field of study that you’ll find interesting enough that you will give 100% effort and learn all you can, whether you need a class to graduate or not. Education is a privilege that many people cannot afford. Please treat it like the gift that it truly is.
@FloMoMom That attitude won’t help him get into UT either. Obviously he has already cut the corner.
@phoshizzles1 You should probably ask UT. “He who asks a question is a fool for 5 minutes, he who does not ask a question is a fool forever”.
Hi please don’t let people talk you down or make character assassinations towards you; I feel some of the comments in this thread are speaking out of their place & projecting their own insecurities onto you. Character assasination (critiquing people’s attitudes) is NEVER about you, especially when people do it via the internet where they don’t know you. Just wanted to say take the nonsense as a grain of salt. You don’t need to explain yourself online to strangers.
I would only be concerned about getting admissions revoked if your senior year was extraordinarily terrible, like you failed EVERY class and didn’t graduate high school on time. Revoking admissions is a worst case scenario, because people will not apply to a school that is notorious for playing a game of “takesies backsies” after issuing admissions; it is just as bad for UT’s reputation as it is for you.
I suggest you submit your official HS transcript and proceed as planned. Don’t make a mountain out of a mole hill and realize that you’re an adult now and that means you vote for yourself i.e. you don’t give people all the reasons you’re not the best candidate, you do everything you can to send off the impression you are. If you are sent an inquiry about your failing grade then prepare in advance a short and concise statement that let’s them know “you are confident about your academic future and while the semester of applying to colleges was a time of tremendous personal stress you are confident in your abilities moving forward”. Don’t make “long excuses”, don’t jump to confess like you’ve broken a law, just be prepared for inquiry and make it clear you wish to move on to better things @ UT.
