Just got accepted into UC Santa Cruz, however, i got an F in AP Biology senior year first semester. Is it possible that my admission will get revoked? I already have the three years of science, So this year of science shouldnt really count as much right? I have good reasons for the F. I had a job and class overload,4 AP and Honors classes, and i had a full day of school (all 7 periods). Also on a sadder note, my mom has been struggling with the beginings of possible multiple sclerosis which had left me fairly distracted. I think it would be completely unfair to get revoked just cuz i wuz having trouble with one class.Im on my way to getting straight As and 1 B next semester, will that help? Should i notify UCSC of the F as soon as possible or wait until they see my full transcript which would have my really good grades (possibly 4.14 or higher) of 2nd semester? Id be willing to retake the failed class at a junior college if its possible.

you should definitely explain your circumstances. I know that they would want to know. If you don't let them know what you've been going through, they will think that you are just another kid taking all those AP classes so that you will get your acceptance letter and then once you get your letter you basically give up on school thinking that you're going to cruise through everything not trying. They want to know that kids are still going to try to work once they get accepted, and some colleges will rescind their acceptances if you give them reason too; but with your circumstances, im sure they will understand.

Your admission to UC Santa Cruz for the fall quarter 2009 is provisional subject to the conditions listed below. It is important that you read these carefully because your admission will be withdrawn if you do not fulfill these conditions.
1. Earn a level of academic achievement in your fall and spring courses consistent with your previous course work, with no grade lower than a C. If you have already earned a grade of D or F in your senior year (fall or spring), you have not met these conditions of admission.

Now UCSC is not Cal or UCLA; they're more looking to keep people than turn them away. So you got to help them out by giving them a reason to keep you. You need to get to your counselors office today or tomorrow to talk this over and plan your next steps, one of which is notifying the school now. Hopefully your counselor is helpful and not the typical CA counselor that is clueless.

Yes, I think they will recid your acceptance letter from what I heard if you have anything lower than a C during senior year 1st/2nd semester, they will cancel your admission. Maybe if you write a letter to UCSC and explain why you got an F in AP Biology, they will forgive you for the failing grade.

Having a mother with MS myself, I understand that it's difficult. Will they totally understand? Probably not. But, make sure to write them a meaningful and heartfelt letter and see what happens. At this point thats all you can do. good luck!
