Hey guys, .
I was accepted to a slightly selective state school (Top 50 USNWR) with almost all Bs and Cs and a few As. I got my final exam scores back and I got a D in my AP Biology class. Will my admission be revoked?

You mean admission. D is an opening to rescind if they want, it really crosses a line. Most schools do not want to rescind but they also do not want to accept students who earn a D. It really depends on the specific college policy. Did your acceptance letter have conditions specified? In CA the colleges can and often do rescind for a D. Students must contact them and get ahead of it. If there is a good reason you’d better explain it.
Their policy is if they see a significant dip in grades. I was always B/C student, so will one D in an AP still be a problem?
Also, my school runs on a 7 point scale where an A is a 93-100, B is an 85-92 etc. I got a 76 as a final grade which is a D. Will that make a difference?
It’s entirely possible the school will rescind for a D. You need to contact them as @BrownParent mentioned in post #1. The 7 point scale is irrelevant.
@Erin’s Dad @BrownParent I will call the admissions office, but wjat should I say? I don’t have a good reason for the D. Any tips on how I can tell them without seeming like a complete slacker.
A D as a final grade could lead to a rescind. I’d contact admissions. Better to be proactive.
Thanks. Bump
Nothing to add to the above except, do you have a good relationship with your GC? Your situation is more serious than the typical “I got a C in Calculus” thread on CC. It might help to have someone who knows what they are doing to advocate on your behalf.
Tell them you realize you made a mistake and you will be sure to apply yourself when you get to college. This was a one-time thing.
