Hey everyone,
I applied regular decision for colby as an international student and few hours ago my admission counselor sent me an email saying if i want to know more about the college life and hear from a current student even though I didn’t indicate anywhere that I’m interested in interviewing anybody. Does it mean anything? Should I schedule an interview or it is okay if I didn’t? How will it affect my application?
Per the website : Colby does not offer interviews as a part of the application process. “After application submissions, regular decision students will be notified about opportunities for informative conversations with current Colby students.” https://www.colby.edu/admission/schedule-your-visit/
I’d speak to the student-- it is a chance to demonstrate interest in Colby and learn more about student life. Sounds like the discussion is meant to be informational rather than evaluative.
I also wonder if declining the opportunity to speak with a student might indicate a lack of interest in Colby.
Why would you not do this?
Many applicants will have visited the school and gotten a chance to get questions answered. It may not be possible for you to visit, and the school is offering you the next best option. How could it hurt?
