So I’ve recently been admitted to Cal Poly Pomona as a mechanical engineer major. However, upon filling up my petition to graduate, I was told by the general counselor that I have not yet finished my CSU GE requirements nor have I finished my IGETC. At this point, I’ve taken all the classes on CPP’s admission requirements (the one on their website, not ASSIST). I have completed 68 units and 29 GE units. If I did NOT finish my GEs nor receive my AA-T, will CPP revoke my admission? I’m slightly confused since they have already admitted me, I would think they are aware that I have a couple GE classes missing. Currently typing this during my physics class so I apologize for any errors. Any advice or opinions will help.
What part of the IGETC requirements are you missing?
A political Science class!
I did get accepted into CSUF and CSUDH without completing all of the required courses. They classified me as pre-business rather than a business major. Don’t give up hope!
I’m sure @gumbymom can give you more insight! I’ve been following her posts for a while now. She’s very informative (more so than my counselor at school). Try giving her a message.
Hey thanks man! I’m going to speak to my main counselor on Monday, in whom specializes in the stem field.
@weakandelite: I am no means an expert on CSU transfers but IGETC is not recommended for STEM majors especially Engineering since these majors have a more extensive major prep than other majors. You can complete the CSU GE Breadth requirement instead.
Also the CSU’s are only looking the the “Golden Four” GE’s to be completed by end of Spring prior to transfer: Oral Communication, Written Communication, Critical Thinking, Mathematics/Quantitative Reasoning
So will you complete the “Golden Four” by Spring? What area of the GE requirement does the Political Science course fulfill?
If you have the “Golden Four” you should be fine and you can take the Political science course at CPP.
Since you are meeting with the Main counselor hopefully the information I have given you can be verified. Best of luck.
