Will my crazy plan work?

On Friday I leave for California. During my three day stay, I plan on visiting the Stanford campus. I was put on the waitlist a few days ago, and have been obsessing over it non-stop. I know that they wouldn't like to see new things that were originally supposed to be included with the application (recommendation, supplements, writing sample), but would a letter interest be wrong? In fact, would a hand written letter of interest delivered personally to the office of admissions mean anything at all? I may sound like an insane person right now, but I whole-heartedly realize that such an amazing educational opportunity will never present itself like this again in my life. Hell, I would even be willing to completely dismiss any financial aid if need be.

/end semi-stalker rant

A letter would mean something. A lot of students reiterate their interest by letter once on the waiting list.

A letter in person: I honestly don’t think it means jack. You’ll probably run into a sourly secretary who’ll take it, pass it on to the right person without a second glance.

I think hand-written could show a greater level of interest though. But I wouldn’t travel to Cali to deliver it.

Well, I will already be going there to see Chris Rock live (it is an awsome graduation present).

Written letter etc are good

Caution: hand delivered ~~ disaster (could be)

I know of one student who tried hand delivered app for RD at a different
school and without getting into specifics it really cheesed
them off.

:)

i also contemplated doing something similar, but after rereading their request as to not send anything else, i’d suggest heavily against it. all you’re gonna be doing is breaking their rules, which will just irritate them and give you less a chance at getting in. place maybe a small note in the “update” box on the website, but i really don’t think its a good idea to send them or deliver them a letter.

trust me, i know it’s frustrating. i feel the same way you do.

Could you maybe reveal why it may have back fired? I am curious as to why a school would frown upon a hand deliverence of a letter (besides the stalker factor).
