I am currently a sophomore with a 3.8 GPA about for this year(thats about what i should end with)i take all academic classes
I was wondering becuase back when i wasa freshmen…i slacked off and ended up with a 2.5 GPA…now im regretting that…if i were to make GPA’s of 3.7-4.0+(un-weighted) for my sophomore, junior, and Senior years…would that Freshmen year of bad GPA destroy my chances of getting into the Ivy leage?
Now since it is freshmen year and those are the easier classes of HS…if i were to cover them up with the 3 AP’s and SL classes, you would think they wouldnt look that closley at the freshman year, but thats why im asking you.
Should i just give up my dreams of Ivy Leauge? Just becuase of that 2.5 year?
If theres some chance, what could i do to make up for that, like shadow that year to show them ive changed and am serious with high GPA’s now. Would higher SAT scores help? Please respond, im very confused about this. Thank you in advance.

In the ivys, everything stands out. While freshman year is not given as much weight as the following years, when you are competing against so many over-qualified students, it will be a factor in your admissions decision. Still, I think you should apply, as long as you keep your GPA at or above 3.8 for the remainder of the time you are in HS. If you had a good reason for low grades (illness, family probs, etc), explain in an essay. If you were like me and just didn't like class, well, you've got a problem then -_-

Keep your GPA on an upward trend over the next 2 years, and you may have a shot, but don't be terribly disappointed if you get in, the competition is rough.

Well, I heard Princeton doesn't look at freshmen grades. So, you might be in luck.

Now I knew it was a long shot with so mnay qualified..ill keep my GPA the best I can possible..I dont care if I wont have a social life., and maybe if i can get 1500 on my SAT with an average 3.6 GPA and some good EC's i might get it. Now even if i end up with medium 3.5 GPA and SAT and i dont get accepted into an ivy, are there any other schools you could point me to that I would have a good chance at that are also good? Thank you
