Will my friend forever live in her sister's shadow?

Chance my friend! She really wants to know her chances, but doesn't feel like making an account so we're both on mine.

(P.S. She's really mad that i made the title that way, but i won't let her change it haha)

JUNIOR, Indian, Female

GPA: 4.74 W; 4.0 UW
Rank: 2/340
PSAT: 210 (taking SAT in march, will likely go up after taking prep class)
SATII: Planning on Bio, World History, Physics, Math IIC
AP: Calc AB (4), Government US (4)

classes this year:
AP Spanish 5 (accelerated language program)
AP Calc BC/Multivariate (accelerated math program)
AP English Lang
AP Biology
Honors Physics
Honors Internship Period
AP World History

ECs:
- Student Government VP
- Member of internationally recognized Ice Skating team
- 2 years of neurology research @ Johns Hopkins (continuing for a 3rd year next year)
- 3rd State-Wide Science fair for discovery of a math formula
- JSA Vice President
- Johns Hopkins Peabody Chorus
- Indian Classical Dance
- Recreational Soccer (quit school team due to injury)
- Being Silly

Other thangs:
- Summer @ Brown class in Biology
- Many student of the month/year awards

Things she's worried about:
- She feels as if she has to score above 2300 on SAT to stand a chance
- Weak AP scores
- Even her sister (Harvard 09) was deferred from MIT

Chance her for:

MIT (EA/Grad-School Legacy)
Harvard
Yale
UPENN
Stanford
Columbia
Brown
Wellesley
Maryland

She really wants to go to MIT and study neurology/biology!!

Her GPA and SAT scores are too low for MIT, Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Columbia and Brown.

definitely... her gpa and SAT are too low for MIT.. and her ranking is too high.. you need to be valedictorian...

JK.. you have great chances at all the above.

Don't listen to fresh, he's probably one of those bitter j*ackasses.

I think all those schools are crapshots for everyone, no matter how bright they are. AP scores really don't affect admission all that much, it may help but not alot. Write a good essay, apply to safety schools and pray a little.

I think UPenn, Columbia, Weleslley, Maryland are likely.

Oh wait, is it out of 5.0? Sorry my school is out of 6.0 So i thought it was low.

im pretty sure its out of 4.0 bud ;)

you mean 5

no. i mean 4.0. i think that she has a perfect 4.0/4.0 unweighted GPA and a 4.74/4.0 weighted GPA (which accounts for AP courses etc.). IMO, it would be rather hard to have 4.0/5 GPA unweighted and still be ranked #2

eating food: She knows?????

She's basically going to end up at HCC.

"Her GPA and SAT scores are too low for MIT, Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Columbia and Brown."

Wait, what are you smoking. If you're going to state the above statement, at least leave out the part about her GPA. In the least, a 4.0 UW will suffice, if not strongly complement the rest of her application when applying to the aforementioned schools.

What is she averaging on her practice tests??

ehhh... are you sure your friends? i know that this title may be a little funny and that you are teasing your friend but you might want to be a little bit more sensitive. anyways i've already chanced your friend in the Brown forum...

update!

2210 on SAT! Should she shoot for a higher score?

^^^ Nope. SAT dsoesnt matter that much as long as you are 2200+

My interpretation of her ECs:

Rec Soccer- Because she was too terrible of a player to play for the school.
Being Silly- lies.

Don't bother retaking that SAT -___- I mean she could, but she probably has better things to do if she's shooting for the schools you listed. I know people who scored lower than 2300 (myself included) who got listed schools, and I know people who scored higher than 2300 who are going to state schools.

Write interesting essays! Her ECs are very very good, so it'll pretty much come down to recs + essays.

(Being silly is like, an awesome EC.)
