Will my GPA affect my chances for Parsons or FIT?

I've just started sophomore year in high school and my GPA isn't too hot. During freshman year I screwed up and ended up with a 2.9 gpa. I'm three weeks into 10th grade and my grades are really not great at all. I already have two C's and it's because I'm in all Pre-AP(except spanish) and AP world history (which is ridiculously hard). Anyways, so I'm probably still at around a 2.9 GPA and it's starting to worry me. I want to get my GPA up to a 3.4 - 3.5 by the end of this year. Is that possible? If not, do you think I could get my gpa up enough by the time I have to apply to college (so like the end of junior year).

I know the portfolio matters most when applying to art/fashion colleges, but I'm really concerned my gpa will affect my chances.

Suppose I had around a 3.2 when I apply, will that hurt my chances? Any advice in this subject will help a lot. Thanks!

Oh and next summer I will be attending a summer intensive at Parsons which will give me college credits and a transcript. So I’ll probably send those grades in when I apply to the school. Would that help my chances at all if I do well in the intensive?

A 3.2 is fine. FIT and Parsons don’t really care about grades, but try to at least get your GPA to a 3.0. You’re in the 10th grade, so there’s still time. When I applied, my GPA was B average and I was accepted. For both schools, mind you.
