My school academic non-weighted is 3.15 and total non-weighted is 3.26. My GPA isn’t high because I scored mostly B’s in the AP and IB courses that are offered at my school. I’m starting to regret taking these more challenging classes because I could have taken College Prep ones and got As.

I’m hoping that other factors such as being Varsity Tennis team captain, being in IB, taking every challenging class offered at my school, a 2010 SAT score, and passing European History, Biology, Art History, and English Literature AP exams.

My C/B (first semester/second semester) in AP Biology is going to be turned into and read as IB Bio SL and count as an un-weighted B/A.

I’m also not sure if finishing Econ Online will be shown on my transcript because I finished it this summer (summer after Junior year, and UCs only look at grades 10th/11th grade years.) So having Econ and Bio turned into an unweighted class, that’s going to boost my GPA to hopefully a 3.3.

i’m afraid, but yea a 3.3 is a big weak point in your app. maybe you can write a killer essay?

I feel like your GPA is a bit on the low side, but by looking at graphs from college admissions sites like these: [UC Davis - GPA and Test Scores Needed for Admission](UC Davis: Acceptance Rate, SAT/ACT Scores, GPA), it shows that you still have a chance.

I go to Berkeley and I applied and got into all the UC’s. My GPA was nowhere near Berkeley’s GPA average but I still got in, and I think it can be the same pattern for Davis.

I think with thousands of people applying with the same or similar stats (GPA/SAT), what really sets you apart from the other applicants is your essay and extracurriculars. In my blog, I explain how I wrote the first UC Essay, and how I thought my way through it. I also have some excerpts from my actual essay so take a look!

Good luck! :)

UCs consider summer after junior year to be part of junior year, so your econ class will count.

Apply but, understand it’s a reach.

According to this report from the school, less than 5% of applicants with a 3.29 or less were admitted. just 11% of applicants in the 3.3 to 3.6 range. All of them had compelling stories and/or were at

Other UCs to consider are Riverside, Merced and maybe Santa Cruz.

SDSU and Cal Poly are probably also reaches for you as well. The rest on the CSU system is probably within reach.

Please apply broadly.

Don’t forget to apply to safeties.
