Will my grades be good enough for Williams?

Williams is, in a word, perfect. It's everything I want in a school, and I'm just unsure as to whether or not I'll get in. If anyone could help me out, I'd be very grateful. My credentials are:

4.0 unweighted GPA, 4.4 weighted, 4.6 junior year weighted

34 ACT

All A's and A+'s in 7 AP classes over 2 years (at my school APs are only available in junior and senior year)

Varsity soccer player

Captain of premier team for 1 year

Run tutoring business and am the "boss" of other students who are my employees (I'm basically an administrator, but it is my business)

Held school wide poetry contest

Writing works are published in school magazines

Volunteer to teach children Hebrew at my temple

National Latin honors society

Play keyboard in a band, working on getting original songs I've written on YouTube with a friend of mine singing. I'm decent but not amazing at that.

Anyway. That's who I am. Will they accept me?

You’re obviously qualified, but there’s also obviously no guarantee that you’ll get in. Write kick-ass essays and make sure to pick good teachers to write your recs.

I agree but, speaking as an alum and the mother of a student with similar stats who was rejected this year, there are plenty of other great LACs out there that you would also probably really like and that would give you a similar experience.

You heart might be set on Williams (and you absolutely are qualified and might end up there) but I would advise you to do your due diligence and cast a wider net in terms of selectivity just in case.

As the other two posters here have stated, a successful application is much more than the information you posted above. All you need to do is go through the decision threads to see similar stats but with some they will have that beautiful big green word ACCEPTED while others will be wait-listed and still others rejected. Your package has to have that extra something special that catches the readers’ interest, and maintains interest throughout the admissions review process. You need to be wise with your choice of referees, and articulate and interesting in your essays. If Williams is truly your PERFECT school, you should explore with your family whether they can afford for you to apply Early Decision which will certainly boost your chances, but not guarantee anything.

Your stats are essentially identical to S accepted/enrolling for the class of 2017, but I agree with above comments cautioning about narrowing the list so early in the process. I believe his essays and a couple of unusual ECs tilted the balance for him, but the differentiation between him and many other highly-qualified applicants (and certainly more qualified transcripts) was essentially zero, really.

He chose Early Decision because of the much better probability of admission (3x the overall Williams accept rate) and a willingness to choose one school, but he was prepared for other schools if Williams had rejected him. Just keep in mind that by the time the athletes/special circumstances applications in ED pool are removed from the pool and taking account of the gender balance that at least matters to some degree, a “no-special case” ED applicant could be competing for ~50-75 slots (by gender) across the country. That’s very tough, so you really must want Williams and still be willing to check out the other very competitive LACs elsewhere. Good luck and breathe.
