I'm applying to my #1 regular decision and the deadline is 1/15. My GPA Freshman/Sophomore year wasn't great and I need all the time I can to improve my cumulative GPA. So my question is this, if the deadline is 1/15, and my school semester ends 1/24 (grades mailed out 02/03), can/do I send my semester grades to the school and will they factor it into their decision? Thanks a lot in advance.

Edit: Does it make a lasting impact on admission committees that my GPA has been considerably higher junior and senior year than 10th/11th? Thanks again.

Does your school require a mid-year report?

And yes, upward trends are a good thing to see.

It's Fordham, I'm not sure but I'll check right now.

Doesn't Fordham have EA, as well? If you are worried, you should apply early action.

The reason I don't want to apply ED/EA is because I'm hoping to show progression and development in my GPA and that is why I am looking to send my first semester grades.

Early action is non-binding.

I understand wanting to show progression and development, but perhaps this can be explained in a counselor recommendation or a teacher recommendation?

Yeah, I'm going to ask my counselor to harp on this issue but it would just be nice if I could show actual results.

This sounds pretty stupid, but how would I inquire into whether Fordham requires a mid year report or not?

Cool thanks so much :)

"Midyear grades would need to be in by Feb 15 to be included in the review. If someone is on trimesters, first trimester would be acceptable."

As the Fordham rep. was responding to a question posed about sending grades in if one was deferred, do you think that the same policy of grades in by 02/15 applies to regular decision apps?
